Very well said Kara! I feel the same way as a newbie FA, and I’ve done a lot of international trips this summer. 😀 <3
Always live life to the fullest, I have been a F/A for 40 years, there is always something new to be discovered, the sky is my home.
God Bless all the lost souls.
Such a beautiful piece, as always. Very touching and well said. Keep doing great things! 🙂
Miss Kara,
I find this industry to be one of true soldarity. You don’t find this type of connection in any other industry. But with that comes the heartbreak of losing a colleague- yet someone we never met. The events of 9/11 made me conscience of the infinite support we have for each other and with each incident, this truth is confirmed . I don’t feel it’s in our blood to ever feel it’s our last moment as we do a pre-flight check, serve beverages or even encounter fierce storms in flight. This is what separates us from the rest of society. See, I have noticed a unique spirit with the folks in the airline industry. One that is typically embraced by the unique friendships we have together. Our souls are free and it’s as if we can detect and even feel those other free souls. With this, our hearts become broken for those we never met, never saw and never even heard of their names with these tragedies. The sadness upon the airlines in the past week is solemn but the support has been unwavering throughout each and every airline.
Our job is to continue on with that joy and love for flying and our spirits will never let a lost crew member down.
Hi kara, u hav beautifully put words together. Its a new day everyday n we will smile no matter what n live all moments those souls couldnt. May they rest in peace.
I was a flight attendant years ago, when the world was a different world, I wore 4 inch heels to work, always nail polish and gloves and a hat to greet people..I was thin and trim and made sure I stayed that way..my passengers were returning vets from that hated war..I loved my job,I wish that I had been allowed to work longer..but you know married ladies were no longer “qualified”.I had never considered planes being hijacked, flying into buildings, disappearing into nowhere. We went up we came down, where we were supposed to come down..but if we had not, I would have wanted people to continue flying the friendly skies to their next adventure or reunion or homecoming, or job.
Beautiful. RIP the flying family we have lost. We will continue to cherish the people we meet and will continue to make memories along the way. The world is there to conquer
