It is a pleasure to read your thoughts, as usual. It seems to me the flight attendant life you love is not related to a specific to an airline, but a lot of your problems are. Change your situation and it could, perhaps, change everything.
Hey Kara,
I travel fairly frequently for work and stumbled across your blog awhile ago. I usually catch-up through in flight wifi. The last few entries I’ve gotten a certain feeling of sadness from that seem pretty familiar. Just wanted to share this link on what Occupational burnout is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_burnout. Hang in there! You’ll figure it all out.
Dear Kara,
I can relate to you entirely going on flight has always been my dream. I recently 6 months left an airport customer service job with Delta airlines. The company was great to work for since the flight benefits are so often but I kept being rejected for the inflight application. Each time there was an opening I would apply I would get as far as a face to face interview and never selected . finally I left Delta To pursue an inflight career. I have interviewed with almost every major airline: Jet blue, American Airline, And even United. These past 6 months have been rejection after rejection. Hurt and confused I have asked God why? Why doesn’t he allow me To live this dream. finally I applied To OSM for the chance in becoming a Norwegian flight attendant . I received a call back for a swim test and interview I selected this upcoming Friday. I came across your blog in preparation for the interview. At first this seemed like the answers to my prayers working for a major international airline but after reading your blog I don’t know if it will be worth it to work for an airlines without flight benefits or the ability to jumpseat. I’m really sad 🙁 But don’t give up on your dreams of having it all such as benefits and international travel. I certainly won’t I pray one day I can either go back to Delta as a flight attendant or Jet blue. I will continue to follow your story.
